Cocorose London Urges Women to Stay Safe This Party Season

Following the recent Hollyoaks episode featuring a post-party-night attack on a woman who was pursued and unable to get away in her high heels, independent British fashion brand, Cocorose London, is urging women to be vigilant and prepared this party season.

The episode, ‘The Long Walk Home’, aired on Monday (November 7) on E4 and showed lead character, Maxine, making her way home after a night out, heavily intoxicated.

The Hollyoaks drama highlights a key issue, as it shows Maxine being followed and then attacked. During her attempt to flee, she has to remove her high heels and walk barefooted. Being unable to do so successfully, she then has to use her own heels, as a defence weapon, to get away.

Unfortunately, this may be a drama but it is real life too. UN Women UK found that 97% of women aged 18-24 have been sexually harassed, with 96% not reporting those situations because of the belief that nothing would be done about it.

Many women have faced situations where they feel they are being followed at night but, if they get home safely, simply do not report it, as no crime has occurred. This is, unfortunately, always a risk that women face, especially if in a more vulnerable state, in an isolated location and hampered by high heels or painful post-party feet.
