June 2026 - For a breath of fresh Alpine air this summer, Hotel Granbaita Dolomites has officially re-opened their doors. After a late-spring heatwave saw temperature records shattered across parts of Europe, forecasts of another hot summer are placing ‘coolcations’ front of mind for travellers.
As travellers look beyond the traditional summer escape, with Skyscanner reporting a 103% rise in mountain hotel bookings, Granbaita offers a stylish base for those in search of a ‘Eurosummer’ without the stifling temperatures.* Run by three generations of the Puntscher-Perathoner family for over 60 years, the five-star, independent hotel offers gourmet dining, panoramic mountain views, extensive outdoor pursuits and a restorative spa rooted in local wellness practices.
Making it easier than ever to travel to the region, SkyAlps have just launched a new direct flight from London Gatwick to Bolzano on Fridays. Travellers can now access the UNESCO World Heritage region four days a week, with flights operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
New Chef Duo Shaping Local Dining
Dining is central to the Hotel Granbaita Dolomites experience, with a culinary programme that reflects the flavours, traditions and seasonality of the surrounding mountains. Across the hotel’s restaurants, menus draw on local ingredients and Alpine heritage, reinterpreted with a lighter, more refined approach for the upcoming summer months.
A highlight of the gastronomic offering is Granbaita Gourmet, an intimate restaurant open to both hotel guests and external diners. Led by South Tyrolean native Marc Bernardi and his wife, Sofia Parduzzi, the restaurant celebrates contemporary Alpine cuisine through seasonal menus rooted in local identity and a close connection to the territory. Both are grounded in circular cuisine with 90% of vegetables sourced from South Tyrolean farmers and lake fish featured prominently across dishes. Fresh pasta is made in-house daily, and a Josper charcoal oven brings a bold, elemental dimension to the meat preparations.
Wellness rooted in Nature
Granbaita is home to the Savinela Spa, a 2000sqm space inspired by the natural beauty of its surroundings. The spa offers saunas, a saline flotation tank, multiple pools, a fitness studio and curated treatment rituals with ingredients from the landscapes beyond. From a traditional Hay Sauna with mountain fragrances to themed-Aufguss sessions and a candle massage with a vegetable butter, each experience pays homage to local tradition. The hotel also offers a wealth of classes including pilates, yoga and circuit training.
Beyond the Hotel
Located at the foot of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, Granbaita places guests in the heart of Selva di Val Gardena, enabling easy access to verdant mountains. The hotel organises complimentary excursions with two daily hikes led by local, experienced guides and a weekly guided cycling tour of the 4 Ladine valleys, namely the famous Sella Ronda. With nearby ski lifts, the mountains are accessible to all. Rocky terrain provides a playground for climbing enthusiasts, while sun-drenched mountain huts invite visitors to soak up the surroundings without the need for physical exertion.

The five-star Hotel Granbaita Dolomites is located in the heart of Selva di Val Gardena, in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. Owned by the Puntscher - Perathoner family for over 60 years, the alpine retreat opened its doors in 1961 and was radically reconstructed by the third generation in 2019. After the final phase of renovation was completed in summer 2024, the hotel unveiled a refreshed and refined exterior with the addition of revamped garden rooms, completing the design story.
