About my blog

Travel, food and wine, adventure, wellness, solo travel.

I believe travel makes our world a better place and increases understanding and respect between people. Food | Travel | Storytelling I’m a journalist covering global wellness, travel and cultural traditions, with bylines in Conde Nast Traveller, The Independent, The Guardian, Food & Travel, and Women’s Health. I’ve reported on everything from detox immersions at a Thai wellness resort to salsa lessons in Cuba to Spanish wine-and-yoga retreats, blending first-hand narratives with interviews and photography. My work focuses on the intersection of health, food and history.

Services

I can write reviews, features and articles for your brand. If I need to visit the property (which I usually do), I try and stay for a minimum of two nights, plus breakfast and at least one main meal with drinks. This means I can write from experience, and create a richer story about you. Most hotels also pay for my travel expenses. Lead times can vary but I'm often available at short notice. Post-stay, I usually leave 2-4 weeks before the review is ready and published. I can offer socials much quicker, though try not to be posting during the stay itself. I need all your PR materials, high-res images, lead-in prices and menus in order to begin the work.

Testimonials

“Great tips for anyone starting out or just needing a fresh outlook on pitching to new editors. The lesson on confidence was particularly relevant to a writer who is quite weary with not hearing back. Editors are not better than you, just busy, so don’t give up! Katie touches on everything from tone of voice, to treating your pitch like a business – an indispensable course.”

SARA DARLING
travel, culture and lifestyle writer

We felt very lucky to find Katie - and work with her on an important copy writing and website project for a new client. Katie's work is fantastic, clear, and well judged copy delivered with real flourish. Katie was incredibly flexible, responding to the brief swiftly and to a tight deadline. We can only do what we do because we are able to work with people like Katie.

Katie and I have worked together for a number of years and at several publishing houses, including News International and Axon, and at digital content agency Zone. She is an experienced sub-editor and a talented writer, able to hit the ground running in whatever journalistic or creative quarter she finds herself. A great self-starter and team-player, she is always re-booked wherever she works, which speaks for itself.
