Biography - Chef Danielle Maupertuis
Belgium born Chef Danielle Maupertuis is the UK’s leading Executive Vegan Pastry Chef as well as an author, presenter and consultant.
Chef Danielle has over 40 years of worldwide professional baking experience and has presented cookery demos at The Ideal Home Exhibition, The Foodies Festival, The Free From and Allergy Show, Yours Magazine and VegfestUK.
Danielle is a guest Chef at Le Cordon Bleu.
Consultant for "Humane World for Animals UK" Chef Danielle runs regular trainings in the UK major universities, helping the Chefs to introduce and develop plant-based options in their menus. The latest: the University of Nottingham with no less than 3,000 meals a day!
Her first book “Vegans deserve better than a fruit salad” is an introduction to plant-based pastry. It describes and explains how to use the main vegan pastry substitutes. With more than 60 recipes, Chef Danielle convinces the reader vegan desserts are easy to make, taste delicious and look fantastic!
Her second cookbook "Veganissima" goes a step further. Vegan and gluten-free afternoon teas have now reached a level of excellence and creativity – each recipe tells a story and holds a special place in our traditions and culture.
The book features a foreword from prominent vegan advocate Heather Mills, who praises Danielle’s dedication and creativity:
“This book is for anyone who wants to bake with care for their health, for the planet and for the animals.”
VEGANISSIMA also takes on the challenge of proving that gluten-free pastry can be just as delicious and look fantastic. That’s why every recipe in this book, sweet and tasty, is 100% gluten free.
Danielle has been interviewed on Radio Two, BBC 3 Counties Radio and featured in media UK wide as well as overseas in the USA where she was invited to present a fine dining afternoon tea in Florida.
Her Fine Dining Vegan and Gluten Free Afternoon Tea Events are proving a sell out success.
Inspired by seasonal and festive themes, they have the unique characteristic of including a short demo, how to make one of her gorgeous desserts. Chef Danielle’s modest contribution to bring back the art of baking
Chef Danielle has catered for corporate events including handbag brand Vendula London's 20th anniversary party , Vegan Happy Clothing where she presented singer Heather Small MBE with a personalised vegan cake.
And it is no surprise that Danielle's private catering guests have been growing with requests for private afternoon teas and other special occasions.
